Azimuth Thrusters

azimuth thrusterThe standard GME range of Azimuth thrusters are heavy duty, 360 degrees steerable and consists of seven thrusters sizes with a power range of 150 – 1000 kW. All marine classifications are applicable on our thrusters, such as ABS, Lloyd’s Register, Bureau Veritas, etc.

Each thruster size can be configured with various fixed pitch propellers and nozzles.

  • The drive is either engine, electric or hydraulic motor
  • Steering up to 500 kW is by means of worm gear steering
  • For power over 500 kW, slewing gears and planetary gear units are used

Mounting options:

  • Weld-in type, the upper assembly is welded into the hull, the propeller unit is then bolted to the upper assembly
  • Bolt-in top mounted units – The complete thruster is lowered and bolted on the well flange

Options:

  • For models above 150 kW only hydraulic activated clutch, integrated in the upper gearbox
  • All units can have anti-reverse stops in case of undesirable rotation when not is use
